This was the first Cathe Friedrich DVD I ever bought and now I own seven and am working toward getting a few more (I get a DVD for a certain number of workouts completed). This is absolutely one of my favorite step workouts and the lower impact choreography is a nice break from all the hopping around in Cathe's Imax 2, Imax 3, and Cardio & Weights. Even though this workout is lower impact, it is not lower intensity. It definitely gets my heart rate up! The choreography is interesting and is not broken down much in the workout (that's why you're supposed to preview it first!). It keeps the workout from getting boring, which is great for me, because I'm not the type of person who can do the same workout DVD over and over. I tried Slim in 6 (thankfully I borrowed it and didn't buy it) and it about drove me nuts! I had to stop because the thought of doing the same DVD 6 days a week for several weeks made me want to throw my weights through the television.
Anyway, another nice thing about Low Max is the adaptability. There are 4 premixes included on the DVD: Step Combos Only, Intervals 1-4, Intervals 5-8, and Blasts Only. Today I did Intervals 1-4 with an 8" step and since it is my recovery week, I used the blast time as recovery instead of an anaerobic intervals.
