By any chance, is anyone curious about the T-shirt I'm wearing in my profile picture?
My wife took that shot of me during the 2005 New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge. It was a fun weekend that involved discovering some beautiful out-of-the-way places in our state, while getting some excercise in the process...we climbed more than 900 steps during the event.
There are 11 lighthouses open to the public in New Jersey, and every October the New Jersey Lighthouse Society sponsors this event to help maintain these historic structures. It's a sort of scavenger hunt, in which participants must visit all 11 lighthouses and check in. You aren't required to climb them all, but Karen and I did. I kept a running total of the number of steps we climbed, and I forget the final figure, but it was more than 900. That's as much exercise as you can get on a stair climber, but you get outdoors and get some fresh air as well!
