I have had some accomplishments as of lately. I lost 5 lbs and one dress/pants size and gained a little muscle...I have not gotten a measuring tape yet I lost my other one. So I am not sure yet how much inches I have lost but I definately know that I have lost some for sure. The only measurement I know for sure was that I gained 2 inches now of muscle on my calves.
It has been a very unsettled summer for me and have only had time to do biking and walking each day I do about 2 or 3 hours of one or the other or even both. I keep trying to get back into running but I will admit it has been a struggle I will start and then I can't seem to finish. I am back and forth across the city constantly barely home and working very hard at work (not taking my lunches and working through them). The kids are back into school and daycare the beginning of September I am hoping to find time to start my strength training and start training and actually complete a 5k run that I have been trying to do since summer of 2007. I am very busy its seems all the time and may even be burnt out because I struggle getting up in the morning. Its very tiring. I honestly can't wait until the kids are back to school and daycare and I requested a week vacation at work (hopefully it gets approved) the same week the kids go back to school.
Because of the extreme weight gain and then losing the weight with my son and daughter (100 with my son and 70 with my son) even though I am slim I struggle with the frustration of loose skin I lost all the pregnancy weight both times within a year and half but my thighs and my stomach, I have not done anything to tighten them up they got smaller they are just not tight. I am going to need some guidence because I don't want loose skin anymore. That is why I want to strength train I think that may help but not sure. I definately know ... read entire entry

Wow I had a really good weekend.
Friday I took my son, daughter and niece on a 2.5 hour walk. The two girls biked while I pushed my son in my jogging stroller. We stop three times to rest at a park each time.
Saturday was more of a fun day but I spent the entire day on my feet. I took my daughter and niece to Capital Ex fair grounds and got day passes to go on rides all day. We met up with my sister and my other niece and she was with her friend and her daughter. We had a blast going from ride to ride and walking around. We left the house at 12:00 pm and left the fair grounds at 12:00am and then we dropped all of our girls off the babysitter for 2 hours while we danced the rest of the night away we got home at 2:30 or 3:00 am omg we were gone for like 15 hours and I barely sat down all day it was great!

Well I was just about to take my kids for a walk and my dad showed up and wanted to take them to the dragon museum so I am going to go for a run and walk on my own.
My run training is about 29 minutes or so
My walk will be 1 hour maybe more depending where I go
I am also going to Capital Ex today which will involve more walking...because the place is huge.
Also I need a new inner tube for my bike maybe I will stop by the store so I can finally change my tire.

Things are going well these days, still walking to work and back everyday, started running again and it feels amazing...I am training to the Ipod podcast called Podrunner Intervals and I absolutely love it, don't have to look at my stopwatch just listen and enjoy. I have been walking everywhere possible these days enjoying the wonderful weather. Captial Ex started today maybe I will make it there with the kids not sure when yet. My 2nd wedding anniversary is coming up soon August 5th and me and my husband are going to get a romance package at the River Cree Casino and Resort the weekend after. We didn't do much the year before so this year we are taking some time away from the kids to relax.

Weekend Walking
walking
|
I had a pretty good weekend walking wise...Friday I did my normal 1 hour walk to work and 1 hour walk back as a walk at lunch time. I did lots of cleaning this weekend to.
Saturday - My mom came over and did an hour and half walk with me and the kids. My son doesn't last long on walks so I am so glad I have a jogging stroller that is so smooth I get a good walk out of it and once I start running again it will come in handy too.
Sunday - In the morning me and the kids took a hour walk it started raining but we were prepared with our umbrellas. Then in the afternoon my mom came over for a walk again, this time we went for 2.5 hours which barely even phased my body since I have been walking about 2 - 3 hours everyday for the past month now I was biking before that and got tired of it thats why I switched to walking. This time my daughter rode her bike along with us instead of walking. My day is not over yet I plan on going for a run later if stops raining and I think I will do some yoga tonight.

Running Podcasts for your IPOD
couch to 5k, ipod, itunes, podcast
|
I just discovered podcasts made for running in the itunes store online which I am going to try.
The first one I am going to tell you about is labelled is "Podcast for Running"
Some of you maybe familiar with the Couch to 5k in the coolrunning.com website, well a guy decided to start a podcast with all 9 weeks of the couch to 5k training program in an audiobook version to listen as you train. I listened to the first episode to see what it was all about and he actually tells you when to run and walk and there is a picture icon that you can see on your ipod letting you know where you are during your run...example...warmup, 1 run, 2 run, 3 run etc. he also tells you when to speed up or slow down. I'm thinking this guy should make more running podcasts because I like that format. Music also changes and speeds up and slows down accordingly.
The other one that I checked out was labelled "PODRUNNER - INTERVALS---workout music for tempo based exercise"
This one has 27 episodes and takes you from 5k in 10 weeks, 8k in 10 weeks and a 10k in 2 weeks but instead of letting you know by speaking when to walk or he has a tone that lets you know that you have to switch from walking to running or from running to walking. Music also changes and speeds up and slows down accordingly.
I thought this would be really cool to try because then I don't have to look at my stop watch or anything, all I have to do is listen and I like the idea of that so I thought I would share my discovery for the people who may not be aware of this. I only just got my ipod this past christmas and I slowly discovering the many things it can do and I really like the podcasting its very interesting.

Wow tempurature is +30 degrees today...I love it!
Hello I am still around just not blogging posting as much as I used to which I am surprised that I am still holding 3 place... I couldn't get back into running for some reason still wasn't feeling up to it. So I have just been sticking to walking these days...I walk 2 - 3 hours a day at least 6 days a week. Starting Monday July 7, 2008 I am hoping to start a workout plan for working out at home...and I am hoping to get back into yoga and running again. I have lost alot of inches but gained weight. I dropped 2 sizes since January and I don't mind the weight gain since it is probably from muscle gain anyway. Anyway I will keep posting updates and maybe I will start showing up around hear more often since I haven't been around much...

Yippie I gained muscle
accomplishment
|
The last time I measured my calves was in January 2008...I decided to measure them yesterday and I gained 1.5 inches on them. I have never exercised long enough to have those kind of results so I was pretty excited about that. They went from 14 inches to 15.5. So far 2008 is the most active I have been usually I don't exercise in the winter but this year I did because if I don't I feel like crap...

Hope tomorrow is better and it really sucks that everytime its not raining I know where my umbrella's are everytime it is raining I can't find them anywhere...

Hello long time since I have blogged, since my grandma passed away (a couple other things have happened since that as well but too personal to talk about) I haven't felt like journaling and probably won't do it anymore I will still blog but probably not as often. I don't do much more than walking or running a few times a week for now but I am starting to feel better, I have been taking something to help me sleep, taking Vitamin D, pantaloc for my acid reflux and a multivitamin.

Fitness Journal Day 137
|
I woke up and went for a run for 24 min.
Well today was a really good day...my mom called and told me she was going to pick up me and the kids to go for a hike in the ravine...we went for 1 hour and a half of up hills and down in a trail by where we grew up that I went to when I was a child it was alot of fun.
When we got home I had time to do some house cleaning then I went to the Edmonton Valley Zoo with a friend and her kids and walked around there for 3 hours. That was lots of fun too...we seen a tiger...an elephant some monkeys and many other animals. Then we had dinner and my friend and her kids went home.
I had asked my neighbour when the weekend started if he could trim my tree in the front yard some time during the weekend and he said yes so he did that today and it looks so much better now. Then I raked 6 garbage bins full of pine needles that had gathered under my tree which wasn't healthy thats why I wanted to trim my tree and mowed the lawn which took me another 3 hours (there was alot) and wow am I sore.
Then I finally had time to rest around 10:30 pm I had a couple beers in the back yard and then now I am going to bed happy that my tree is going to be healthy again my front yard will be looking green in no time now! Yippee!
Tomorrow I am hoping to mow my back lawn, do some laundry and do some more house cleaning hopefully by 2:00pm then I am taking the rest of the day off and visit with my sister in law and my cousin who has come to Edmonton to visit. I am pooped out I need a rest!

Fitness Journal Day 136
|
Well today was a good day because I took a vacation day to make my May long weekend an extra long weekend. I just finished for the night (I started at 3pm and finished at 9:30pm = 6.5 hours) cleaning my yard, weeding my flower beds and setting up my patio furniture, it was a gorgeous day today for thats for sure it reached 22 degrees.
So obviously I didn't do any exercise but wow I still got a good workout out of my body is sore. I'm not good with the gardening thing so I only have two things in my flower bed a red tulips (which is my blog picture) which was planted before I even moved in over 3 years ago. And I don't know the other 2 things are but they grow back every year too.
My allergies are acting up now because I am allergic to the enviroment. Dust, Dandelions, Dogs, Tree's and Grass so my eyes get ichy and red, my nose get swollen and if I touch grass I get a rash (I wear gloves when I do my weeding and I don't don't sit directly on the grass I have to sit on something if I have skin showing) and I get headaches. If it bugs me enough I just take an allergy pill and I am okay but I don't care I still do what I want to anyway I love being outside.
My kids helped me out with the yard work. My daughter Rena who is 9 years old help with everything I was doing and my 3 year old son put dirt into his dump trucks to help me transfer soil from one side of the flower bed to the other because one side had more than the other then he just mostly played after that.

A winner's creed
poem
|
I have this book mark that was given to me by my mother in law that had a poem from an unknown author on it that I really liked so I thought I would share it...
A Winner's Creed
If you think you beaten
You are
If you think you dare not
You don't
If you'd like to win but think you can't its almost a cinch
You won't
If you think you lose
You're lost
For out in the world we find success begins with a persons faith
It's all in the state of mind
Life's battles don't always go to the stonger or faster hand
They go to the one who trusts in God and always thinks
I CAN!

I Volunteered to Captain the eight ball billiards team...
billiards
|
Eee what did I get myself into...yes me who has never been a leader in anything her whole entire life has just volunteered to Captain the Eight Ball team for our Edmonton Corporate Challenge yikes...I have been a participant 2 two times before and I am familar with playing Eight Ball scotch doubles but I mostly play bar rules.
They were desperate because they had like 8 people who wanted to play but no one wanted to be Captain so I stepped up to the challenge. I am nervous because I have to choose who goes into the tournament because we can only take 2 guys and 2 girls and backups incase they don't show. I have to arrange the practices which is no problem but talking to people or talking in front of people makes me some what nervous (but I have gotten better over the years) which is one of the reasons I did this so I can start being more outgoing....I am kind of excited about putting myself in this situation because I want to see how I handle it and so far so good because when I accepted the position we only had one girl (me) and we needed 4 and about 5 hours later with some emails and phone calls I had my other 3 girls...yah for me...now to plan the 1st practice meet and greet and find out where everyone is in skill level. Thats it for now!

Being alone is healing
poem
|
Something short and sweet I wrote last year...
Being alone is healing
When days feel somewhat chaotic
Stresses get the best of you
You feel incredibly angry
Or a little shaken down
When you are sad or even happy
Have all that you ever wanted
Take a little time all alone
Then you'll be back to your old self

Fitness Journal Day 112
running, yoga
|
Well it went from -22 degrees and a blizzard to +1 today and all the snow is melting. Hopefully there won't be anymore unexpected snow in the middle of spring.
Day 112 - Wed, Apr 23, 2008
Run training - 20 min
Yoga - 30 min
This week was so shitty I am just not in the mood but doing yoga makes me feel better and very relaxed. I can't believe how much snow we got we didnt even get that much snow all winter. It went up to my knee's. I took a snow day and stayed home with the kids for one day so that was good. I deserved it because I did 14.5 hours of overtime in the past 2 weeks helping out my boss to get things caught up.
