OVARIAN CANCER - PLEASE READ

OVARIAN CANCER - PLEASE READ The link in this blog is to a 10 minute video which gives some good information about ovarian cancer. The first speaker is my mother, the second one is my sister.  This video is from about 13 months ago when she was started he second bout with Ovarian Cancer.  Tomorrow morning she goes in for her last chemo treatment, and then focuses on whatever preventive action she can take to extend her remission this time around for as long as possible. Like most Ovarian Cancer patients / survivors, she was diagnosed late stage.  These late diagnoses means not enough people survive to tell their story, which means not enough people know about it, or about the symptoms, which are the scariest part of the whole thing.  The symptoms are typical everyday symptoms for women, maybe a little more intense, or just lasting a lot longer, or with more frequency.  I urge you all to please take the time to watch the video to educate yourselves a bit, and please make sure all the women in your lives watch it as well. Then, if I have convinced you, go talk to your doctor and get tested.  Like any disease, the earlier it is caught the better the chances - but unlike many of them, this one really demands a lot more vigilance.  So again, please watch this video, and if nothing else, please pass it on...

ToddLips Thank you very much. Thankfully, when my sister is not fighting against chemo treatments, she is very active including a regular exercise and healthy eating regime. And I have avery good friend who is a very good personal trainer with a tone of experience in case she needs any kind of program. Now we are just hoping for a good treatment that will prolong her remission for as long as possible...

JimB Todd, on my blog I posted a link to a newspaper article about how exercise is becoming an important part of cancer treatment. Hopefully there's some information there that would benefit your sister.

ToddLips I just wish i didn't have such personal reasons for knowing the links between Ovarian and Breast cancer, aside from the obvious...

JimB A very valuable post, Todd. One of our best friends, our son's godmother in fact, survived ovarian cancer and went on to be an accomplished runner and cyclist. Sadly, she later contracted breast cancer and died at the age of 49. Thank you for raising awareness on this subject.
