It's ok to Brag
Tags: brags

It's ok to Brag One of the primary themes of our site is that it's ok to brag. No... Our goal is not to have everyone on our site become cocky and obnoxious, but instead we want to create an environment where people can be proud of their weight loss / muscle gaining accomplishments. We created the Brag feature as a tool for motivation and encouragement, and hope it will support our positive atmosphere.

How do you send a brag?
You can tell someone "it's ok to brag" about their Profile, Pictures, and Blog, by clicking the button that's located at the top of the respective page that says, "It's ok to brag!"

Who Deserves a brag?
1. Anyone who you notice is dedicated toward achieving their goal
2. A friend (fitster) who needs some encouragement
3. Anyone that you believe deserves bragging rights for their accomplishments

Why send a brag?
By sending a brag, you're making the other person feel better about themselves. Many people struggle while trying to get in shape and every little bit of encouragement helps. It's also a good way to meet people.

FitConnect Points and Ranking System
Tags: points, ranking, help

FitConnect Points and Ranking System On the top right of every user's profile, you will notice a "Stats Section", which includes your FitConnect Point Total and corresponding User Rank.

We have setup a hidden point system that gives users points each time they do something on the site. Points vary based on the activity and how well your posted content is reviewed by others.

Posting quality tips, recipes, blogs, etc., can drastically improve your ranking as users save, review, and sync to your posted content. A blog entry that becomes popular, or a tip or recipe that receives positive reviews will accumulate more points than posting many, less popular items.

Keep in mind that you don't have to be a fitness expert to improve your ranking. Points are also awarded for things such as acquiring friends, rating tips and recipes, posting comments, sending/receiving brags, creating groups, and basically anything else that you do on FitConnect. Example: Members are awarded 15 points when they join their local fitness center's FitCommunity.

Points and Ranking are updated at 9:00 PM, EST.

Welcome to FitConnect Welcome to FitConnect, an online social medium with a core focus on health & fitness. We started this site in order to provide a one-stop answer to all of your fitness needs, including the ability to share your own knowledge and advice. People with varying interest levels in fitness can benefit from using our site. While a personal trainer may want to build credibility and exposure by posting various tips, recipes, blog entries, and more, beginners may choose to browse this information and submit their feedback. Some will simply use our site to connect with their local fitness center, or perhaps join a different community that seems more appealing. In order to make the best of your FitConnect experience, we recommend you add your friends to your network.

Currently, we are in beta mode, which means that our site is a work in progress. In the near future we will be adding many features in order to enhance your FitConnect experience. Global Mode vs Sync Mode
Tags: sync, global, help

Global Mode vs Sync Mode When browsing FitConnect, you will have the choice of using Global Mode or Sync Mode. By default, you are in Global Mode, but you can switch back and forth on any of the section home pages. You can also change your default mode in your account settings.

Global Mode: This mode will show you content (i.e. tips, recipes, blogs) from ALL FitConnect members

Sync Mode: This mode will only show you content (ie: tips, recipes, blogs, etc) from users you have "Synced" to.

A "Sync" is similar to a subscription, allowing you to receive updates on another user's Blogs, Pictures, Recipes, Tips, and Groups. When you add some as a "Fitster" (friend), you are, by default, automatically synced to that user. This is also something you can change in your account settings. The best thing about Syncs is that it's anonymous, so you can sync to someone's content and they won't even know.

To sum it all up, Sync mode allows you to filter out all the content on FitConnect that you don't feel like seeing.

Please post any questions, comments, ideas about Sync mode below.
