Gatorade or Powerade
energy drinks, personal opinion, cardio, calories

I must confess... I like Gatorade. As mentioned in a previous blog, I do drink Propel before some of my workouts. I find it really makes a difference.
I usually enjoy a nice protein shake with fresh fruits after my workout, but on days where I do only cardio, I treat myself to a Gatorade (I really like the grape flavor).
Last night was one of those 95% cardio nights, and it was quite a good workout. I left the gym and went to the store across the street to buy my gatorade... BUT THEY WERE SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I went and picked up a Powerade.
I must say they taste almost identical. I am sure if it were a blind test, that I would have no clue which was which. However, I did notice that Powerade has less calories and less grams of sugar.
I am curious to know what other people prefer and their thoughts and opinions of these or other similar drinks.
I also noticed that Powerade has a 'Powerade Option" which is a calorie reduced version of their brand. Does Gatorade have something similar?

I wrote not too long ago about energy drinks. I tried a few others since then and figured out a few things.
1) I do not like redbull... it tastes bad and makes my heart beat too much
2) Guru makes me thirsty
3) Rage is more a placebo effect than reality, or so it seems for me.
I have tried drinking Propel before and during my workouts. I must say, I feel less thirsty and more energized.
I am truly becoming a real fan of Propel and I even find they taste alright, especially the strawberry kiwi.
I know alot of people at the gym say I am wrong about energy drinks, and chances are, I am wrong... but I know my body, and I know when I kick ass in my workouts.
For ME, and thats all I can really say, for ME, Propel is a great asset to any workout.
I would love to hear your opinions on this!

Energy Drinks
energy drinks

So the other night I wanted a great workout but was a tad tired. My trainer recommended I try a RAGE energy drink. I drank it, did not really enjoy it, and then had an amazing 2 hour high intensity cardio and ab workout.
I am not sure if it was my motivation or the energy drink, but I was unstoppable that evening.
Yesterday I worked out my biceps, forearms and chest. It was a tough workout. I used heavier weights than my last 4 workouts and added a few new ideas to the workout.
I decided before I switched over to do my cardio, perhaps a boost from an energy drink would be benefitial. So I bought another RAGE drink and on the eliptical I went. It was a great workout, but nothing spectacular... not like the night before.
I am not sure if the energy drink actually had any benefit to me or not.
Has anybody had any experience with them?
Any ideas or comments?
Cheers!
