Back from vacation

Back from vacation Hey, I've missed everyone, but I feel well rested after a much-needed vacation. SO much so, in fact, that despite rolling into town at 1 am this morning, I still got up at 5 and did my lap swim. That's probably one thing I've really missed while I was away.
The beach was clear and sunny, though much too windy and  cool to lay out in the sun. On the other hand, it's been scorching hot at home, so the cooler temperatures were a great relief - certainly nothing to complain about! I LOVED running on the beach; it was least windy in the early morning, the time when I'm used to working out anyway, so I was able to get in a workout early and still have the rest of the day to play with my kids. I even ate pretty healthy overall. I LOVE fresh seafood, so I sampled some fresh new dishes without totally sabotaging my waistline. My favorite was probably pasta with a garlic, basil, olive oil base, with chunks of fresh crab, snow peas and feta. YUM! I also had a wonderful grilled halibut with fresh pineapple salsa.
I think the highlight of the trip was a surprise encounter with a seal pup while walking on the beach. The tide was going out, the sun was setting, and this darling little seal was just lying on the shore. I'll post a pic! Anyway, I'm back and anxious to read everyone's blogs and tips and catch up on all I've missed. Hope you've all had a wonderful week. It was great to get away, but it's always nice to come home!

runningbear I don't think I COULD take a full week off if I had to - I'd go through serious withdrawal. I Do have to take breaks from swimming; I use a pool at a local community college, so the pool's closed between quarters and on holidays.

MleighS84 your better than me - i def dont exercise much on vacation - i actually plan my vacations around my gym schedule - i like to take a week off from the gym every 3 months to give my body a break so that is when i go on vacation - i think i plan my whole life around the gym sometimes ha ha :)

boazoz If you want a beautiful vacation with many healthy foods and fresh fish, with alot of exercise involved, you must visit Eilat one day. I promise you will want to keep going back!

runningbear Thanks. It's nice to be back (I think. I'll tell you for sure once I've found the bottom of my seemingly infinite laundry pile!) It was an awesome vaca! Good thing I did some beach running and swimming to work off the great food!
