Should You Alternate Arms with your Front Deltoid Raise?
Tags: deltoid raise

Should You Alternate Arms with your Front Deltoid Raise? Most people use the Front deltoid Raise in their shoulder workouts - but I've noticed that some people alternate arms while others raise both arms at once.

By the way, I'm talking about when using dumbbells (obviously you can't alternate arms when using a barbell).

I've always alternated arms when doing front deltoid raises with dumbbells, but I do see a lot of people doing it differently at the gym.

Obviously it's not a huge deal which way you chose, but I was wondering if there's a proven (or strongly opinionated) way of doing it.

So what is everyone else doing? Hopefully no matter what you're doing your not using your body to throw the weights up - I snicker when I see people do that at my gym.

MleighS84 i usually do alternate arms - another variation i do sometimes is lift one arm and hold it, then lift the other arm and hold it, lower the first arm, then lower the second - it can get intense

OldeButGoode Ditto - I agree with the 3 of you !!!

ryan ok looks like we think alike... I feel awkward using both arms at once

OzzieOcean I have always alternated, and I will keep alternating. I feel that I get better form that way, and form is key to any great workout. I see many people simultaneously lift both arms, but I am just more comfortable 1 arm at a time. Not sure which is more effective, but I know what works for me.

tdotross3 I alternate, you can focus more on 1 arm. When i've seen people do both, they seem to use more than just their arms resulting in more of a throwing motion and bending of back which I doubt is effective, but i'm not sure.
