My Race Results!!!!

My Race Results!!!! I ran my first race this past Saturday. It was 5k run that took place along the coast of Tampa Bay. I originally thought I was signing up for a marathon, but was mistaken. Anyway, the run was very smooth with almost no hills. My friend and I had decided to join the race, so we got all prepared for it. However, on the morning of the race, we couldn't find parking and got to the starting line a little late. The announcer said, "Alright it's now time for our walkers and stroller runners to get to the starting line!" So we booked it and tried to catch up to the pack who apparently left about 10 minutes before we arrived. Regardless of the late start I finished in 28 minutes and 6 seconds, and placed 153rd out of about 7,600 runners. Pretty good, but I wish I was able to start on time. Well, I guess I learned how to prepare for the next race. Thanks again to all those who wished me luck with my race! Let me know if anyone is competing in an race and/or marathons, I'm very interested in knowing how you trained and how you placed!

Music Makes All The Difference

Music Makes All The Difference I am a huge lover of music. Combine that with my passionate for fitness, and it's a match made in heaven. When I first starting running and working out hardcore about 2 years ago, I simply just went by myself without the accompaniment of a friend or music. I realized how as I was running, the thought of me breathing so heavy preoccupied me to the point that it would restrict my running capabilities. Ironically, this curiosity led to me to my major in sport and exercise psychology. I've discovered actual experimental research about the relationship between specific music and how it affects a person's heart rate during a workout. It's very interesting. It explains in detail the different tempos, different instruments, and sounds that contribute to specific exercises and activities. Upon my own research I even found references to support how certain music can stimulate the metabolism and aid in weight loss and a healthy digestive system. Amazing, I know! Anyway, this only scratches the surface about my interest in sport psychology and music. If anyone wants to discuss anything related to either interest please feel free to drop a message. I enjoy talking about and listening to concepts like these, after all it is what I hope to do as a career one day.
